Reflexology
is not a massage, but a specific pressure technique that works on
precise reflex points found on the feet, hands, and ears that correspond
to all tissues, organs, glands, and systems of the body. Reflexology
on the feet is more appropriate and popular because the feet are
easier and larger to work on than the hands. Hand reflexology is
effective and wonderful, but because hands are so overused, the
body’s indications those imbalances are present, can be easily overlooked.
Reflexology
is suitable for people of all ages (including infants and the elderly!),
and may bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
After completing a course of reflexology treatments for a specific
condition, many people find it beneficial to continue with regular
treatments in order to maintain health and well-being.
Reflexology
treatments can take up to an hour or more following an initial consultation
(first session only--takes15-20 minutes). I will take a detailed
case history, discussing your past and present health as well as
your current lifestyle, before treatment starts. This will give
me an insight into any areas that may need particular attention
and give you a chance to ask any questions. I have my own reflexology
chair and other equipment for home visits. Please contact
me for details for on-site reflexology sessions at your home
or office.
Over
75% of all illnesses are stress-related. Reflexology is becoming
increasing popular as a complementary therapy. It promotes relaxation,
improves circulation, reduces pain, soothes tired feet, and encourages
overall healing. It can be used for pre-operative or post-operative
or palliative care.* A study in the American Cancer Society journal
found that one-third of cancer patients used reflexology as a complementary
therapy. **
